Colombo (News 1st): Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa paid homage to the Atamasthana in Anuradhapura today. The Prime Minister first called on Atamasthanadipathi Ven. Pallegama Siriniwasa Thero and obtained blessings.
The Prime Minister then paid homage to the Jaya Shri Maha Bodi. After paying homage to the Ruwanweli Maha Seya the Prime Minister called on the Ruwanweli Chaithyaramdipathi Ven Pallegama Hemaratana Thero and obtained blessings.
The Prime Minister then visited the Mirisawetiya Raja Maha Viharaya. Later the Prime Minister visited the Jayanthi Viharaya in Anuradhapura and called on the Chief Incumbent, Ven. Nugethenne Pagngnananda Thero.
Ven. Nugethenne Pagngnananda Thero: They attempted to do major projects but nothing was done. They continued to scold but in the end, it backfired.
PM Mahinda Rajapaksa: If we unite the North and East, it will have a big impact.
Ven. Nugethenne Pagngnananda Thero: They're creating a different perspective. It will destroy this nation. Elephants in parades are an issue but dying after eating crackers is not an issue.
PM Mahinda Rajapaksa: That's not an issue. Seven elephants have died and no one is aware of it.
Ven. Nugethenne Pagngnananda Thero: They're yet to find out how they were killed.
