Manampitiya negligent bus driving: Driver and conductor remanded

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The driver and the conductor of a bus which was caught in a water current during floods in the Manampitiya area in Polonnaruwa, have been remanded until the 27th of this month. They were remanded after being produced before the Polonnaruwa Magistrates' Court. The duo were arrested yesterday on charges of negligent driving and for attempted manslaughter. 54 passengers were travelling in the bus when it was caught in the current. According to the Police, several children and pregnant mothers were among the passengers.
