Spill gates of 26 reservoirs opened due to heavy rain

Colombo (News 1st) - The spill gates of 26 reservoirs have been opened by the Irrigation Department due to heavy rains. Director of the Department's Water management unit, Janako Meegastenna notes that the spill gates of 7 reservoirs in the Anuradhapura district including the Rajangana, Nuwara Wewa and Nacchaduwa reservoir have been opened. Spill gates of the Inginimitiya and Thabbowa reservoirs in the Puttlam district have been opened, while the spill gates of the Rugama and Unachchiya reservoirs have also been opened in the Batticaloa district.
