COLOMBO (News 1st) – The residents of Thebuwana gathered opposite the Thebuwana Police and protested at the premises last evening.

The Matugama Magistrate Court granting bail for a suspect who was in an accident which claimed the life of a man in Thebuwana last morning has been the cause for this protest.

The accident occurred when a motorcycle and a cab collided with each other. The deceased was a 33-year-old resident who travelled on the motorcycle.

The residents carried out the protest until late last night until the arrival of the SSP of the Kalutara Division, Sanjeewa Bandara to the scene.

The SSP promised the residents that he will hand over the investigations to be conducted to the Dodangoda Police directly under his purview.
