COLOMBO (News 1st) Co-cabinet spokesman Dr Ramesh Pathirana said, the Z score will be discarded from the education evaluation system within the next two years. He made these comments taking part in the Satana program on our sister radio channel, Sirasa FM. The minister said a new scientific system will be introduced to make sure the access to further education and entrance to state universities. He added the new system involves an extensive classification system for schools, which will take at least two years, making the system most likely applicable in 2021. He also said, due to the unequal distribution of educational resources among schools, the new system aims at providing incentives for students to remain in rural schools and provide them with a better chance of entering local universities.
