Jude Shramantha Jayamaha travels overseas

Colombo (News 1st): The Controller General of Immigration and Emigration informed the Supreme Court by affidavit that Jude Shramantha Jayamaha who was on death row and later granted a presidential pardon had travelled overseas. This was revealed, when the petition filed challenging the Presidential Pardon given by Former President Maithripala Sirisena, was taken up today (December 10). The matter was called up in the presence of Justices Priyantha Jayawardena, Vijith Malalgoda and Gamini Amarasekera. The Supreme Court today ordered the overseas travel ban imposed on Jude Shramantha Jayamaha to be further extended to the 01st of June and further consideration of the petition was fixed for the 29th of May. The FR petition was filed by the Women and Media Collective and an amended petition was filed in court naming Former President Maithripala Sirisena as respondent. The other respondents are, the Attorney General, Acting IGP, Controller General of Immigration and Emigration, Former Justice Minister Thalatha Athukorala, President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka and its secretary, as well as the Mother and Father of the victim.
