Rs 15,000 allowance for executive state workers

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government stated that a special allowance of Rs 15,000 will be granted to executive-level civil servants. The Secretary to the Ministry, Siripala Hettiarachchi said, the circular regarding this will be released next week. The Government Executive Officers Union engaged in a continuous strike during the past months demanding a special allowance from the previous government. Accordingly, the cabinet approval was granted to provide the Government Executive Officers with a special allowance of Rs 15,000. Siripala Hettiarachchi said the allowance will be granted from the 1st of January, next year.
