COLOMBO (News 1st)- Four thousand houses in Uhana, Ampara are facing a power failure as a wild elephant rammed into two high voltage power posts.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy Sulakshana Jayawardena stated that the power supply of 18 transformers was disrupted due to this incident.
The wild elephant had rammed into two power posts near the Samanabedda bend on the Ampara, Uhana Main road this morning, killing itself.
The spokesman added that operations have commenced to restore the damaged power lines to provide electricity.
