COLOMBO (News 1st) - Sri Lankan athletes were able to win 06 gold medals at the 13th South Asian Games today. This brings it to a total of  15 gold medals in athletic events, a feat they had achieved only after 1991. Appreciating their efforts, President Gotabaya Rajapaksha conveyed his wishes via a twitter message. Today was day 05 of the South Asian games currently underway in Nepal. Hirunika Wijeratne won the Gold in women's marathon clocking a time of 2 hours 41 minutes and 24 seconds. Indunil Herath won Gold in the Men's 800m event with a time of 1 minute and 50.52 seconds. Dilshi Kumarasinghe won Gold in women's 800m event in 2 minutes and 6.18 seconds while the bronze was won by Gayanthika Abeyratne. Nadisha Dilhani Lekamge won Gold in the women's javelin throw event while Nadika Lakmali won the bronze medal. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka won the 400m relay in both the Men's and Women's categories. The men's team included Aruna Darshana, Rajitha Rajakaruna, Seniru Gunaratne and Lakmal Priyantha. The women's team included Omaya Udayangani, Kaushalya Madushani, Dilshi Kumarasinghe and Gayanthika Abeyratne.
