COLOMBO (News 1st) - Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa visited the Anuradhapura religious site this morning. The Prime Minister met with the Atamasthanadhipathi Ven. Pallegama Siriniwasa Thero and obtained a blessing. Ven. Pallegama Siriniwasa Thero, Atamasthanadhipathi noted that due to the rains their tanks are full and requested the Prime Minister to carry out his duties to the public. Consequently, the Prime Minister paid homage to the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi. Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa then visited the Ruwanweli Cheeithiramadhipathi Ven. Pallegama Hemarathana Thero. After receiving the blessings from the Ven. Thero the Prime Minister paid homage to the Ruwanweli Seeya. The Prime Minister then visited the Mirisawetiya Rajamaha Viharastanaya. He obtained blessings from the Viharadhipathi of the Mirisawetiya Rajamaha Viharaya Ven. Eethalawetunuwewe Gnanathilake thero. Ven. Eethalawetunuwewe Gnanathilake Thero noted that following the rains the ministers will have to take the responsibility of the tanks and streams alike. Ven. Eethalawetunuwewe Gnanathilake thero noted that the Anuradhapura kingdom should be well received and developed, Prime minister Mahinda Rajapaksa accepted that the program to renovate tanks should be extended to Anuradhapura as well. Minister S.M. Chandrasena stated that they should the program should cover both Anuradhapura and North Western province as well. The Prime Minister also met with the Viharadhipathi of the Anuradhapura Jayanthi Viharaya Ven. Nugethenne Pangnayananda thero and obtained blessings.
