Consumer Affairs Authority to charge 1900 outlets

1900 outlets to be charged with violation of Consumer Affairs Authority Act

COLOMBO (News 1st)  The Consumer Affairs Authority stated that it had identified 1900 outlets that had violated the Consumer Affairs Authority Act. CAA Assistant Director Priyantha Wijesinghe speaking to News 1st said 237 such business establishments are located in the Colombo District, and legal action will be instituted against them. They are to be charged with selling expired food items, hiking prices of goods and selling goods without displaying the weight of the item. He added that raids will take place throughout the festive season until the 15th of January.
