GCE ordinary level examination begins

Colombo (News 1st) - The 2019 GCE ordinary level examination commenced today and will continue till the 12th of this month. Candidates sitting for the examination have been advised to arrive at the examination halls half an hour before the examination and to carry a valid form of identification. Electronic devices have been banned from the examination centres. Examination Commissioner General Sanath B. Pujitha notes that Provincial Education Directors and Zonal Education Directors have been instructed on the course of action that needs to be taken if there is any inconvenience caused to the candidates, especially considering the inclement weather affecting the island at present. Paper marking is set to be conducted in two phases, one from the 24th of December to the 2nd of January while the other is from the 17th of January till the 26th. The First phase of paper marking will be carried out at 108 examination centres at 84 school in 56 cities. 37 of the 84 schools that will be used for paper marking will begin academic activities for the new year on the 2nd of January, while the rest will begin academic activities on the 3rd of January.
