COLOMBO (News 1st) Evidence examination in the contempt of court case filed against former Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake will commence on April 3rd, 2020. The case was heard today by the Supreme Court bench Justices Sisira De Abrew, Priyantha Jayawardena and Murdhu Fernando. The Supreme Court observed the former Deputy Minister had committed contempt of court when he publicly said the former government would receive the approval from a majority of the 05 judge bench appointed to examine the FR petition filed against former President Maithripala Sirisena's move to dissolve Parliament. Accordingly, the Supreme Court ordered the Attorney General to file contempt of court charges against Ranjan Ramanayake who was listed as a respondent.
