Swiss Embassy hands over information on staffer abduction to the CID

Colombo (News 1st): The Swiss Embassy has handed over information regarding the abduction of one of its employees to the Criminal Investigation Department. Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ruwan Gunasekara noted that the CID had requested the Swiss Ambassador to provide information regarding the incident inorder to carry out the investigation. A team of officers from the Colombo Crimes Division and the CCTV division of the Police have been deployed to assist in the investigation. SSP Gunasekara said the suspects who carried out the abduction had threatened the victim and claimed that they were CID officers. Police Media Spokesperson SSP Ruwan Gunasekera says that this is a false statement made by the suspects to mislead investigators. He added that the CID has been instructed to conduct an immediate investigation into the incident and arrest the culprits.
