Colombo (News 1st) – United National Party MP Sajith Premadasa has requested President Gotabaya Rajapaksa not to betray the mandate given to him by the people of this country.

Issuing a release, MP Sajith Premadasa said that certain events in the country have instilled fear among the people. The MP said the incident where an employee of the Embassy of Switzerland was abducted has left a black mark in the history of diplomacy in the country and has severely disappointed the foreign nations.

He also said that qualified and experienced police officers have been subjected to acts of political revenge. He added that several journalists are already intimidated in the process. He emphasizes that this is an act against freedom of expression and the right to information of the people.

MP Premadasa said it is regrettable that steps have been taken to damage the mandate given by the people to safeguard the country, uplift the economy and take Sri Lanka to greater heights.

Sajith Premadasa has called on President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa to pay special attention to this matter.
