President Gotabaya Rajapaksa meets Indian PM Narendra Modi

Colombo (News 1st) - President Gotabaya Rajapaksa who is on an official visit to India met with Indian Premier Narendra Modi and President Ram Nath Kovind today. In a tweet, the Indian premier noted that he was happy to receive President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on his first overseas visit as the President of Sri Lanka. PM Modi also noted that President Rajapaksa's visit is a testimony to the time-tested ties between India and Sri Lanka and would help strengthen bonds between the nations as well as energize the partnership between the two nations. Meanwhile, President Rajapaksa met President Ram Nath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. President Rajapaksa was accorded a ceremonial welcome at the occasion along with a 21 gun salute by the Indian Army. PM Narendra Modi was also present at the occasion.
