Willing to be the speaker for a short period - Vasu

COLOMBO(News 1st) - Parliamentarian Vasudeva Nanayakkara says that he is ready to be the Speaker of Parliament for a short stint. Responding to a question posed by a journalist at a media briefing today, MP Nanayakkara noted that if his name is suggested for the post of Speaker, he would like to assume the position. However, he made it clear that he was not interested in holding onto the post for a 5 year period as it would hamper his political activities. When questioned as to why Chamal Rajapaksa was not considered for the position, MP Nanayakkara noted that if could be because it was deemed to be unsuitable as the President and the Prime Minister as both his brothers.
