Colombo (News 1st): The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption says 42 people have been arrested on suspicion of providing and accepting bribes during the course of the year. The Director of Investigations, SSP Priyantha Chandrasiri said that the suspects were arrested in 36 raids.
Among them are state officials as well as civilians. Meanwhile, the Assistant Superintendent of Police of Chilaw who was arrested yesterday (November 22) for soliciting a bribe of Rs. 190,000 was remanded until the 4th of December.
