PM expected to step down this evening - Kiriella

Colombo (News 1st) - Leader of the House Lakshman Kiriella states that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe would make a statement this evening on stepping down and handing over the Government. Speaking to News1st, Kiriella stated that the PM is expected to meet with members of the cabinet at Temple Trees at 4pm today adding that the statement on their future course of action would be made following this meeting. Kiriella added that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is expected to resign from the post of Prime Minister, which would automatically trigger the dissolution of Cabinet. The UNP MP also noted that they expect to assume their seats in the opposition in order to allow room for the new administration to fulfill their promises.
