First postal voting results could be released before midnight

Colombo (News 1st): Chairman of the National Elections Commission Mahinda Deshapriya said the counting of postal votes for the 2019 presidential election has commenced and the results of the first postal voting could be released before 12:00 midnight today (November 16). Elections that were held in 12,845 polling centres to elect the 7th Executive President of the country ended at 5:00 pm today. Elections Commissioner noted that the voter turnout for this year's Presidential Election is close to 80%. The National Elections Commission said the voting was held peacefully.
