Orders to produce Nissanka Senadhipathi to a JMO

Colombo (News 1st): The Superintendent of the Welikada Prison was ordered by the Colombo High Court today (November 14) to produce Nissanka Senadhipathi, the Chairman of Avant-Garde Maritime Services, to a Judicial Medical Officer and submit a medical report on his health condition to court. The order was made today when the case filed by the Bribery Commission against Major Nissanka Senadhipathi and Major General Palitha Fernando was taken up in the presence of High Court Judge Sashi Mahendra. The duo are charged with a number of indictments including soliciting a bribe of Rs. 35.5 Million to obtain approval for Avant-Garde Maritime Services to operate a floating armoury. Evidence examination of the case will commence on the 14th of February, 2020. The High Court judge ordered for summons to be served on 06 witnesses from the prosecution to be present in court on that day.
