COLOMBO(News 1st) – Election Monitoring Organizations have stated that they have been receiving several complaints regarding illegal election campaigns during the election silent period.
They added that most complaints are related to promotions on Facebook.
PAFFREL stated that they have received 648 complaints in relation to the presidential election.
Executive Director of the organization, Rohana Hettiarachchi stated that the organization had deployed around 4000 observers for the presidential election.
Meanwhile, the CaFFE stated that they have received 735 complaints and the Executive Director of the organization, Ahammed Manaz stated that they had deployed nearly 2500 observers to monitor the election.
The National Election Monitoring Organization reported that they had received 706 complaints and the National Organizer of the organization, Rasanga Harischandra said that they have assigned nearly 1500 observers for the campaign.
Meanwhile, the National Election Commission had received 3729 complaints in relation to the presidential election since October 8th and 3596 out of the total complaints were regarding the violation of election laws.
