Conspiracies to hinder the victory of Gotabaya Rajapaska : Wimal Weerawansa

Colombo (News 1st): MP Wimal Weerawansa and MP Udaya Gammanpila had a media briefing in Polonnaruwa today (November 8). Speaking at the briefing MP Wimal Weerawansa noted that they (UNP) have planned many conspiracies in order to hinder the victory. He noted that the UNPers claims that they bribed Hizbullah for promoting Gotabaya Rajapaksa as the second preferential vote. He clearly stated that they do not accept any support from anyone who is linked to terrorism and was on the side of Zaharan. Therefore, he said if anyone including Hizbullah claims that the SLPP bribed them to make alliances and support for voting Gotabaya Rajapaksa, it is not their doing but a result of various conspiracies against them. Journalists spoke about Gotabaya Rajapaksa's US citizenship. They noted that there are discussions that Gotabaya Rajapaksa's US citizenship has not been legally withdrawn. They questioned "if there is any valid document that proves these allegations? Are there documents that prove that his citizenship has been withdrawn?" Responding to this Wimal Weerawansa assured that Gotabaya Rajapaksa is a 100% Sri Lankan citizen and that there is no connection to American citizenship. Journalists also question regarding the statement made by Wasantha Senanayake following him leaving the UNP. They noted that the UNP claims that Wasantha Senanayake left because he is in good terms with the SLPP faction. Responding to this Udaya Gammanpila noted that as a Sri Lankan citizen he has the right to decide who he is going to support. He added that no one can decide that for him.
