SC requested to appoint full bench to examine petion on MCC

Colombo (News 1st): A request was made from the Supreme Court today to appoint a full bench to examine the petitions which were filed seeking an interim injunction order preventing the signing of the Millennium Challenge Corporation Compact. These petitions were filed by Venerable Ahungalle Jinananda Thero and the Government Medical Officers' Association. The petition was called up in the presence of Justices Buwaneka Aluvihare and S. Thurairajah. Counsel for the petitioners said the MCC agreement poses harm to the country and requested for a full bench be appointed to examine it. The Justices decided to direct the mater to the Attorney General and ordered for it to be called up again on the 13th of November.
