Ambassador Dr. Dayan Jayatilleke responds to rumours

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Issuing a communique, Dr Dayan Jayatilleka, the Ambassador to Russia has responded to allegations levelled against him, regarding a Presidential Candidate. In this release, Dr Jayatilleka highlights, that at a meeting held yesterday (October 29) with the participation of several politicians representing the Sri Lanka Podujana Permuna, had named him as being involved in a plot to implicate Presidential Candidate of the SLPP Gotabaya Rajapaksa in the April 21st attacks. He adds, " Not a shred of proof is presented for this accusation. The accusation itself is totally false in every single aspect." He also says that he is not engaged in any effort with anyone to implicate any Presidential candidate in the April 21st attacks. The communique further states, Dr.Jayatilleke has not had any connection to the names mentioned by the SLPP camp and that he does not have any involvement to the alleged implication. In his release, Dr Jayatilleka states, this issue is merely an example of disinformation stating that the main fact behind this issue was a Facebook post which he had shared on his Facebook account. Finally, Dr.Dayan Jayatilleka states," I share many posts which appear on my FB wall but if I agree with the sentiments, I say so. In this case, I did not—and desisted from any comment whatsoever."
