COLOMBO (News 1st) - Presidential Candidate of the National People's Power Movement attended a women's convention in Kattankudy today (October 29).
Women activists representing the Muslim community attended the event held to ensure the victory of the Presidential Candidate of the Movement, Anura Kumara Dissanayake today.
Anura Kumara Dissanayaka:
"There have been 15 governments in power following freedom. All these 15 governments were formed by Sri Lanka Freedom Party or the United National Party. These two parties have governed the country for 71 years. Hakeem, Ameer Ali, Athaullah and Hizbullah have served in these governments.
What is the situation in our country now? The economy of the country has collapsed. The country is burdened with debt before the international community. The rulers have ruined the country. They also create issues in the country. They have made us look at each other suspiciously.
Women fall prey to these circumstances. There are around 45,000 war widows in the North. National security is the main topic of discussion in our country.
But what's the problem with national security? These wars don't have to be solved by Generals. It is a disgrace to the Generals. The politicians shouldn't let small groups create extremists organizations.
That's the main point. If security forces are needed, the Police will be sufficient. They need a war. They want conflicts. But you can't move forward like that. We will ensure everyone is equally treated.
A broad discussion was held in the South about the name board at the Palaly Airport. But those who raised those issues have written their election centre boards in Tamil. That was to obtain votes from the North. Don't forget, it is time we embrace something new with none other than the National People's Power Movement."
