COLOMBO (News 1st):- A public rally attended by Presidential candidate of the New Democratic Front Sajith Premadasa, is currently being held in Homagama. Meanwhile, the presidential candidate of the New Democratic Front Sajith Premadasa also attended a public rally in the town of Kolonna in the Ratnapura district, this morning (October 26).  The rally was organized by the UNP organizer for the Kolonna electorate, T. Abeynayake and was attended by several civil activists, political representatives, and party loyalists. Speaking at the event the Presidential candidate said;
"Pepper cultivators are facing several difficulties due to the lack of a proper pricing system. As the President of this country, I promise to immediately ban re-export of pepper. The previous regime also sold our paper manufacturing factory. Locals of this area are aware of this. I will take over the future responsibility of this paper factory and not transfer the liability to the public. I will develop this factory to a state of the art manufacturing facility that will create thousands of jobs. There are more than 5000 estate workers in this electorate. We will provide them a wage of Rs. 1500. If a Premadasa makes a promise, we will fulfill it. Certain factions sling mud on me by distorting statements that I made.  It's not my fault that my opponent does not have the strength to work hard day and night. I am 52 years old. I have the strength to work hard. Despite the mud slinging of my opponent, I have confidence that the people of this country will bring victory to the late Ranasinghe Premadasa's son, Sajith Premadasa. Today is the 26th of October. Do you remember what happened exactly one year ago? There was a constitutional crisis, a cardboard prime minister was appointed and a farce cabinet was sworn in. But that fake government only survived for 52 days. If they were truly appointed as the president or the prime minister, imagine how will they behave? They violated the constitution. If they are elected to power, we could never hold such rallies in public. Those who bear a different opinion will be taken away in white vans."
Presidential Candidate Sajith Premadasa also attended a public rally in the town of Rakwana. Addressing the people gathered at the rally he said;
"Do you remember how they behaved inside the parliament chamber? The MP from the flower bud party from this electorate was the best behaved that day. I witnessed how they harassed our police officers, pulled them by their collar and humiliated the entire police. What will happen if they come to power? There are 90,000 families in the police sector. Recently we provided a bata allowance of Rs. 20,000 to all of them. Leaders of the flower bud party, with no shame, had lodged a complaint at the police and stopped the bata payment. I promise, if I am elected as the president of this country on the 16th of November, I will resume the payment of bata allowance within 24 hours, and backdate the payment accordingly."
He also addressed another public rally in the Beliatta town in Hambantota yesterday (October 26). Several civil activists, political representatives, and party loyalists attended the public rally.
"All political representatives elected by the people must first give priority to the country, its people and public service. On the 16th of November, a new democratic political culture will commence, giving priority to our country first. We are prepared to provide facilities to people representatives, to carry out public service. Politicians' greedy for wealth will be removed from the political arena, especially from our faction. Politicians advise the general public to tighten their belts. However, those politicians loosen their belts. These politicians obtain all the facilities, depriving the general public of concessions. After the 16th, we will implement a progressive and generous political culture, where politicians will be compelled to tighten their belts. This will be a new experience for everyone. I pledge to implement this new system. I will contribute all my benefits to the general public. The president, prime minister and cabinet do not need new vehicles, We will stop this waste of money. We will sacrifice every cent for the public" - he said.
