"The economy is picking up despite the 4/21 attack" : PM

COLOMBO (News 1st):- The National Youth Model of the United Nations 2019 commenced in Colombo yesterday (October 18). Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe was the chief guest of the event. This year’s session aims to work towards creating a space for youth to learn, understand and analyze pressing international development challenges and enhance their ability to develop target-oriented solutions. Speaking at the event the Prime Minister said that even with all the difficulties that the country is going through that the economy not only services their existing debts but also has a primary surplus. He further says that back in 2015, that the economy was not strong enough to withstand debts repayment but that this year even despite the Easter explosion that the economy has begun to pick up in the matter of a few months. Further speaking to those gathered, he says that now they have got a free society where everyone's free to express what they want, do what they want, dress what they want and where there are no codes are being imposed on them. He added that the people have been given the opportunity to live in a free society with a freedom that has to be however protected. The final session of the National Youth Model United Nations 2019 will take place tomorrow (October 20).
