SLPP candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa visits Polonnaruwa for special religious program

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Presidential Candidate of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Gotabaya Rajapaksa attended a special religious program and an alms giving program in Girithale, Polonnaruwa today (October 12) along with the leader of the SLPP Mahinda Rajapaksa. Mahinda Rajapaksa noted that people are waiting for their time to come to cast their votes and this is exactly what they saw at Elpitiya PS elections. He added that the Chairman of the Elections Commission is waiting for the clergy to make a comment on politics within the temple premises as it is banned in temples. Mahinda Rajapaksa noted that the temple belongs to them and questioned who else could talk about politics in temples other than them. He respectfully requested that these laws be reviewed. Most Ven. Wedaruwa Upali Anu Nahimi, Anunayake of the Asgiriya Chapter noted that the Theros noted that they were there to fulfil their responsibility as the sangha of the country. Ven. Galgamuwe Sudeerananda Thero, Kithullagala Arrannaya Senasanaya noted that Aryanwasi Thero has not cast his votes for the past 30 years, however, he intends to cast votes this year as the upcoming election is a crucial election for Sri Lanka.
