Colombo (News 1st): MPs S.B. Dissanayake and Dilan Perera who have pledged their support to the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna spoke about M.L.A.M Hizbullah who is contesting the presidential elections as an independent candidate.
MP Dilan Perera noted that when one looks at the results of the previous presidential election, in Districts like Batticaloa a majority of the Muslim votes were cast in favour of the swan. He said Hizbullah is a person who represents extremism and a person who was chased from the position of governor by our leader President Maithripala Sirisena.
He added that Kathankudi is the most populated location in Asia and the general public in Kaththankudi will not vote for him. He said extremist flock around Hizbullah and those votes had gone to the swan during the previous election. The Parliamentarian assured that they have not put forward Hizbullah for this election as they are the people who chased Hizbullah away.
Meanwhile, UPFA MP S.B. Dissanayake noted that the people who vote for Douglas Devananda, Thondaman, Athaulla and Hizbullah will all vote for Gotabaya Rajapaksa. He said Hizbullah is contesting as a separate candidate. He noted that the way he sees it Hizbullah is not a person who was involved in a massive financial scam or a crime like Rishad Bathiudeen. He noted that Hizbullah just got a lot of money from a foreign country and built a good university.
