12 office trains operate despite strike: Railway department

Colombo (News 1st): The Railway Department says despite the strike by railway workers, 12 office trains were in operation this morning (October 2). A senior spokesperson said the trains will operate from Kandy, Galle, Chilaw, Mahawa, Avissawella, Rambukkana, Veyangoda and Gampaha to Colombo Fort, adding that the trains will be operated by retired officers. The strike launched by railway drivers, regulators, controllers and supervisors demanding solutions to their salary anomalies continues for a 7th day today.
