Colombo (News 1st) – Reports indicate that academic activities in schools have been hampered due to the trade union action launched by teachers and principals. The trade union action is based on several demands, including the issue of salary anomalies.
The situation in schools across the country are as follows:
A limited number of teachers reported to work at Ashoka College, Gothami Balika College and Sangamiththa Balika College. There was also a low turnout of students.
The activities at schools in Gampaha were halted as teachers did not report to work.
Kiridiwita Gamunu Primary Vidyalaya, Kiribathgoda Gamini Primary Vidyalaya, and Galahitiyawa Vidyalaya were closed.
Student attendance at several schools including Yashodhara Balika College was low.
No classes were held at Kotikawatta Rajasinghe College and Somadewi Vidyalaya as teachers failed to report to work.
