Colombo (News 1st): The principal of a Jaffna boys’ school who was arrested while accepting a bribe has been remanded until July 3rd after being produced before the Jaffna Magistrate’s court. The principal was arrested by the Bribery Commission yesterday (September 21) after receiving a bribe Rs. 50,000.
The Director-General of the Commission Sarath Jayamanne said the principal had demanded a bribe of Rs. 100,000 to admit a student to Grade 7. Rs. 50,000 had been obtained earlier and the police had arrested the suspects while accepting the remaining sum of cash.
