Reuters - Rescue teams and local residents worked for two hours on Saturday (July 14) to save two dolphins stranded on a beach in southern Chile, some 200 metres (656 feet) from the water. Video footage showed the team of rescuers attending to the mammals on the coast of Corral, in the Los Rios region. According to National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service (Sernapesca) Regional Director Leonardo Llanos, the discovery was made in the Catrilelfu area. Local residents, police, Navy personnel, Sernapesca and firefighters all cooperated in the effort to save the dolphins. The dolphins were lifted on to a stretcher, carried out to sea and guided to deep water, the rescuers said.
