PM provides evidence before PCoI

Colombo (News 1st) - Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe appeared before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry appointed to investigate fraud and corruption in the present government. The Prime Minister was summoned to the Presidential Commission today to record evidence with regard to an investigation taking place on leasing a building in Rajagiriya for the Ministry of Agriculture. In response to questions, the Prime Minister stated that he presented the Cabinet Paper on behalf of the Parliament. The Chairman of the Commission stressed as the Second Citizen of the country the Prime Minister has a responsibility to rectify any wrong decision taken by a state institution. After providing evidence, the Prime Minister left the commission premises and the Prime Minister is due to appear again at 01:15 this afternoon when the commission reconvenes.
