UNP candidate not discussed during MPs meeting – Ajith Mannaperuma

COLOMBO (News 1st) – The UNP Parliamentary group meeting took place at Temple Trees under the auspices of Party Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe.

State Minister Ajith Mannapperuma, shared details with the media following the discussion. He said that during the meeting the presidential candidate was not discussed, however, the members of the committee to select the ideal candidate were appointed.

According to the minister, Chairman Kabir Hashim and Minister Ranjith Madduma Bandara were appointed by Sajith Premadasa while PM Ranil Wickremesinghe appointed Dinesh Weerakkody and Rajitha Senaratne.

The Minister added that members of the committee have been given the freedom to their research including reviews with Tamil Political Parties, Muslim Political Parties, the Sinhala Buddhist and Catholic movements in the South and religious forces.

He finally added that the conclusion would be available in the coming weeks.
