Colombo (News 1st) - The letter summoning Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to appear before Presidential Commission appointed to probe fraud and corruption that took place during this government, was handed over to the Prime Minister today (September 10).
The Prime Minister has been summoned by the commission to inquire regarding the DPJ building in Rajagiriya which had been leased to the Ministry of Agriculture at an excessively high rate.
A research officer of the Commission handed over the letter to the Special Assistant Secretary of the Prime Minister.
The research officer representing the Board of the Presidential Commission S.A. Rohana stated that he was given an order to hand the letter over to the Prime Minister, summoning him to be present before the commission on the 12th. He added that he handed it over to K.P. Dayaratne.
Meanwhile, Former Minister of Agriculture Duminda Dissanayake provided a statement before the Presidential Commission once again regarding the rented building. He stated that even though he was not interested in renting out the building for the Ministry of Agriculture, the cabinet granted approval to the cabinet paper presented.
He added that the Prime Minister provided all required facilities to rent out the building.
