NEC has authority to call for presidential election from tomorrow-NEC Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The National Elections Commission stated it would have the power to call for a Presidential Election from tomorrow (September 10). Chairman of the National Elections Commission, Mahinda Deshapriya noted that the 2018 voter registry would be considered for the upcoming Presidential Election. He added 200,000 more voters would be added to the list prepared for the local government elections. The NEC has already received information about 17 candidates who would be contesting from both political parties and independently.
