COLOMBO (News1st):- The Dawoodi Bohra religious convention is currently being held in Colombo. Over 20,000 members of the Bohra community from across the world are attending this event. The organizers of the event had taken special measures to ensure that the occasion leaves zero waste behind. The zero-waste project is a key element of this year’s Dawoodi Bohra religious convention. 60,000 meals are prepared daily in a massive kitchen to be provided free to the visiting congregation. All the organic waste from the event is recycled every day and the compost produced is sent to farming communities and for forestry conservation. Plastic bags are banned and the congregation is also urged to use re-usable bags.
