COLOMBO (News 1st) - The World Health Organization's Southeast Asian Regional 72nd Summit held in New Delhi, India yesterday (September 04).
The World Health Organization has certified Sri Lanka as a country that has eradicated measles.
The certificate was presented to Health Minister, Rajitha Senaratne by the World Health Organization Southeast Asian Regional Director Dr Poonam Ketrapal Singh.
Since 2014, the measles outbreak program has been implemented in Sri Lanka as a priority program through the World Health Organization and Sri Lanka thus becomes the 5th Southeast Asian country to eradicate measles.
The last measles outbreak in Sri Lanka was reported in 2016.
