Colombo (News 1st): The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has received 2096 complaints during the last 8 months. Director of Investigations SSP Priyantha Chandrasiri said 1276 complaints have been selected for investigations.
He said 86 complaints were lodged over the misappropriation of assets; 277 complaints were regarding bribery, and 873 complaints were corruption-related. The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has conducted 43 raids this year: 27 suspects have been arrested.
SSP Priyantha Chandrasiri added that the suspects include School Principles, Police Officers, Grama Niladharis, Economic Development Officers and government officials. He said further investigations are underway.
