Navy rescues 4 Indian fishermen in Kachchativu seas

Colombo(News1st) - The Navy yesterday rescued 4 Indian fishermen who were found in a distressed trawler in the seas of Kachchativu, Jaffna. The fishing trawler and its crew encountered this unfortunate incident as a result of prevailing rough sea conditions. According to the Navy, a naval craft belonging to the Northern Naval Command had spotted the trawler which was adrift, while patrolling in northern seas. After reaching the vessle the Navy had provided food and drink to refresh the group of fishermen, who had been fatigued by the rough seas. The 04 Indian fishers between the ages of 37 and 60 years, along with their fishing trawler, have been handed over to the Jaffna Fisheries Inspector for further investigations.
