COLOMBO (News 1st):- A pre-school teachers' national conference of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna was held in Colombo today (September 1). The event was chaired by the presidential candidate of the SLPP Gotabaya Rajapaksa. The event commenced with the arrival of Gotabaya Rajapaksa, at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre this morning (September 1). Addressing this event, Gotabaya Rajapaksa said that since it is a well-known fact that pre-schools in the country have not been standardized that one institution that could regulate all pre-schools is important. He further said that they will be able to establish good standards for pre-schools if education policies for them are being formulated. He assured those gathered that the government they intend to establish will enhance the quality of pre-schools and definitely formulate policies for its education. The event was also joined by the leader of the Sri Lanka Podu Jana Peramuna Mahinda Rajapaksa. Addressing those gathered, he said that nobody knows to whom these pre-schools belongs to; whether it belongs to the provincial councils or the central government no one knows.  He further stated that a system has to be implemented for these areas as well and that several organizations have already called for such changes.
