MPs meet with Prime Minister for a 2-hour long discussion

Colombo (News 1st): A group of MP's including Ministers from the UNP met with the Prime Minister today (August 30) at Temple Trees. Chairman of the UNP Kabir Hashim, Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, Ravi Karunanayaka, Ranjith Madduma Bandara, Sarath Fonseka, Daya Gamage, and Vajira Abeywardena were among them. The following views were expressed by the MP's post discussions which were held for around 2 hours. UNP Minister Gayantha Karunathilaka noted that what they discussed is to not allow any split inside the party and to make sure everyone wins in the upcoming election. He added that they discussed on how they should work in unity, and they will meet up again on the 6th to extend talks about how the unity in the party is to be ensured and the future victories. Meanwhile, General Secretary of the UNP Akila Viraj Kariyawasam noted that everyone has agreed, everyone is united. He said they all should head forward ensuring unity inside the party. When questioned about the dinner party at Ravi Karunanayake's residence, he noted that as the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, he had invited the Ambassadors to dinner, and even the party leader Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Rajitha Senaratne were present, and there was no issue.
