COLOMBO (News 1st) – Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne has ordered that Minister of Power and Energy Ravi Karunanayake to appear before the CID within two weeks from today, to record further statements.
The Magistrate has made the order citing the fact that the Minister is accused of providing false evidence in relation to investigations on the Bond Scam, and the failure in recording further statements from him in this regard has led to delays in concluding investigations.
A Senior State Counsel informed the court that the Minister appeared before the CID on July 7th, but has failed to show up after, disregarding multiple summonses.
While the case will be taken up once again on November 21st, the Magistrate has called for a progress report on the state of investigations on that date.
