Minister Sajith Premadasa promises better Dhamma education system

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Foundation stones were laid to construct two Dhamma schools in Ambanlantota under the "Sisu Daham Sevana" Program yesterday(August 26). The event was held under the auspices of Deputy Leader of the United National Party Minister Sajith Premadasa. The foundation stones were laid at the Ambanlantota, Udabaragama Viharaya and Ambanlantota Thanalanda Viharaya. The buildings are expected to be constructed at a cost of Rs 8mn. During the ceremony, school accessories were distributed to the students of Udabaragama Viharaya. The minister personally donated Rs 80,000 to a girl who had displayed remarkable skills in throwball. Minister Sajith Premadasa declared that he would complete 1000 Dhamma schools by the end of 2019. He added that he would put a stop to the Dhamma education under the trees within 5-6 years after he assumes the responsibility of the people following this November. Minister went on to note that he would reestablish the point system for the teachers in Dhamma schools which was initially introduced during his father's tenure. He also added that he would introduce a Dhamma school uniform for the students and take measures to provide lunch at government expense. He concluded his speech with the promise of a better Dhamma education system in the country following this November.
