COLOMBO (News 1st) – The Court of Appeal today (August 26) decided to postpone the Contempt of Court case filed against Professor Sarath Wijesuriya till November 25th 2019. The case was called up before Appeal Court Judge Achala Wengappuli this morning.

President’s Counsel Upul Jayasuriya appearing for Professor Sarath Wijesuriya informed the court that he wishes to file preliminary objections against the charges.

The court postponed the matter permitting the respondent’s counsel to file preliminary objections before November 21st.

An Attorney and a retired Military Officer had filed a complaint citing Professor Sarath Wijesuriya had committed contempt of court by criticizing the court order issued halting the screening of Prasanna Vithanage’s film ‘Usaviya Nihadai’.
