Over 2000 kg of beedi leaves discovered in Navy raids

COLOMBO (News 1st):- The Navy, during a search operation conducted in Mannar and Talaimannar areas on the 23rd and 24th August, found another big haul of beedi leaves. The North Central Naval Command, during search operations, carried out in Nadukuda, Wankalei and Old Pier beach areas, found 2264.9 kg of beedi leaves, in 27 packages, washed ashore. The recovered consignment of beedi leaves was handed over to the Jaffna Customs for onward investigation. Meanwhile, the Navy has found 2839.4kg of beedi leaves from aforesaid areas during search operations carried out in the past two days.
