COLOMBO (News 1st):- The health sector states that there is currently a risk of an increase in the dengue epidemic due to the prevailing intermittent rains. Consultant Community Physician of National Dengue Control Unit, Dr Prashila Samaraweera states that 60 people have died within the year due to dengue. She further notes that the reason for their deaths is because of the delay in identifying the disease. She added that a special dengue eradication program will be in effect from the 29th-31st of this month in the Western province.
