Muslim marriage and divorce act to be amended

Colombo (News 1st): Cabinet approval was granted to amend the Muslim Marriage and Divorce Act. There were calls from the Muslim community as well as human rights activists that the Muslim Divorce Registration Act should be amended. Accordingly, the age of marriage, the registration process and the provisions for the consent to marry will be revised. As a result cabinet approval was given to instruct the Legal Draftsman to submit amendments to the Act.
